How long will ryzen threadripper and titan of volta series will last.?

my 3570k has lasted since may 2012, and it wasn't bleeding edge at the time.
GPU's don't last as long, and the incremental improvements between generations are much greater. Given the choice between a titan every 4 years and a xx80ti every 2 years (roughly the same cost) the performance would be better with the xx80ti's.
Bleeding edge might last a bit longer but for the cost increase, is it worth it?
