ASUS MAXIMUM VII GENE - i want to stay on this socket .
I7 4790k 4.4
GTX 1060 3gb g1 (weakest part of PC . Planning to upgrade it soon )
Kingston HyperX Predator 16 (2x8) 2400 mhz HX324C11PB3K2/16
Plextor px128m5pro
Zalman CNPS PERFORMA 10 +
Zalman GLX 600w
Noctua NF-P12 PWM x2 - intake and exhaust - thinking about adding more .

It's really hard to benchmark because fps drops massively only in big teamfight .

The main question - Will i get at least + 10 % to performances if i will change my 1060 3gb to 1080 or 1080 ti ? Even if i wont get stable 240 it shoul'd be close to 240 . My 1060 is sitting on close to 100 % load always but temp is fine - 72 highest .
After reading many threads people says that RAM bottleneck is big and entrance level is 2400 .

Also want to know about CPU . I tried 4600 with open case and my highest temp was 72 c with incorrect 3.5 V . I will try with 3 V .

That's my results so far
I know that results aren't accurate but i was pressing benchmarking hotkey only in big fights .
I guess the lowest number of FPS is when all players are alive :D

Solution
A quick glance through your list and I tripped over the 3GB VRAM. That's the first weak point in your build.

A 1080Ti would be a very big performance jump. Is it worth +$700? Nimo. I'd snag a 1080 and OC the silicon out of it.

Changing to a 3000MHz 16GB RAM kit might net you a half-dozen FPS or not. No guarantees across the board.

Maybe I missed it, but what resolution are you planning to do this at? 1440p is a bear to get to 240fps. 1080p is much more reasonable.

I agree with you that you need to upgrade your graphics card. The difference between a 1060 3GB and a 1080 Ti is easily a +50% increase. One variable that I can't speak to is the effect of your CPU. I don't know how well Overwatch handles CPU cores so I can't say if there is a difference between 4 and 8 cores. You can always benefit from a CPU clock speed increase though.

Hope this shines a little light on your situation.

Sorry that i didn't mention the settings im using
Everything low
Render Scale 100
Resolution 1080
240 FPS cap .

Literally proffesional settings to maintain as high as possible .

Took 1060 6gb for couple of days from my friend and didn't notice diffirence between cards .

Overwatch can take advantage up to 6 cores + im using hyper threading .

Had the same thoughts about 1080 and 1080 Ti - the newer product the higher price .

I might need to change PSU to feed 1080 .

Yes, I would think about getting a higher quality PSU than what you currently have.

Something from Tier 1 or Tier 2.

Does it matters that much ? I mean PSU

Also i think i can overclock my GPU a little bit more but i'm not sure .
Im not native english speaker and sometimes it's hard to understand but i read so many thread abous safe overclock and overclock 3gb 1060 g1 .
I know it's offtop but i don't want to create another thread .

Is this OC good ? My GPU is stable , temp is fine , game doesn't crash

The PSU is very important for the life of your parts, if you are upgrading to a GTX 1080 you defiantly want a higher quality PSU.

OC will depend on your exact card, they all are different so they will all OC different, even 2 of the same model.

A game was on alt+tab
Idle temp is 48 c

I think i will add 2 more fans in my chassis .

I have diffirent PSU

After many tests on diffirent maps i've noticed that my fps is lower .
Couple of days ago i replaced my budget air cooler with Noctua NH-D15 and OCed my PC to 4.6 1.25 V ( i bet i can OC to 4.7 2.7V or 2.8V ) but got no effect .
In game my GPU is close to 100 % load.
I've tried to lower my resolution and render scale - i theory i should get more fps but i didn't . I don't know why but my result with low resolution and render scale was close with my initial resolution and render scale 100 % while GPU was sitting on ~~70 % load .
Any thoughts about this ?
Maybe another is bottlenecking me ?

EDIT:
I will make new measurements
Looks like i've experiecned this problems

I don't see the 4790K as a suspect in this FPS issue. It's not going to be holding up the show at stock speed.

What I don't see is a FPS difference. Does the OC return an FPS increase? Is there a difference between the FPS at 4.0GHZ and 4.3GHZ?

I don't see any OC'ing on the GFX card's side. Did it net you a FPS increase?

Where do I see some threadbare fabric? You only have 3GB of VRAM. Have you monitored your VRAM usage with MSI Afterburner? I was using 2.75GB of VRAM a couple years back. I have since exceeded 3.5GB VRAM usage. Should it have to use a HDD or SSD as a pagefile performance will be impacted.
Benchmarking is easy offline. Firestrike, Timespy, Furmark, IntelBurnTest(comparing at stock and OC'd CPU stats.) and Unigine Heaven all offer benchmarks that aren't impacted by servers, population and any latency outside of a user's control.

I can look to https://s5.postimg.org/4yz3iodrr/4690_K_4.3_GHz_Intel_Burn_Test.png and https://postimg.org/image/bpfks40xf/. I look to temps. voltage and any other CPU variables that could be the ball and chain .

My OC of GPU gives me 81 fps in Furmark 1080 preset .
unOCed GPU 75 FPS using the same preset .
If i OC a little bit more Overwatch becomes unstabble so i guess i reached really good result ic OC without touching voltage ( +130 GPU CLOCK , +400 MEMORY CLOCK , +11 % temp limit , +9c power limit . )
When i lower my resolution in furmark i got significant increase in FPS , but this doesn't happen in game ( i thought with lower resolution i will hit constant 300 fps but my FPS was close to initial resolution FPS )

Average VRAM is 500 mb

Will try to measure and stock speed and 4.6 .

Socket 1150 is good enough to carry 240 + setup in Overwatch
Need something better than 1060 . I bet 1070 will give me constant 260 - 280 + .
