Hi all,
A couple of days ago my laptop randomly lost wireless connection to my wifi router. The network adapter stated there was no known wireless connections available and my adapter had disappeared under network adapters in device manager. Wifi is still working on other devices in the household. Can anyone provide some advice on fixing the problem?
Thanks,
Ryan

Your WiFi antenna is probably dead.. Alternatively you can try to reinstall the network drivers but I doubt that will work.
Or it might be that you accidentally disabled the WiFi antenna with the physical button/switch on the laptop (depending on the brand)

I have found since the problem that my laptop will occasionly load the adapter however this is usually short lived or it will stop once the laptop is restarted. I have tried reinstalling the drivers however this worked once and hasn't since. I have tried disabling/enabling the button. How would I go about fixing the wifi antenna if this was indeed the problem

No need to buy an external, WiFi antennas are the easiest part of a laptop to replace (except the battery of course), I'm sure you'll easily find a salvaged one in good condition.
Although unless you're comfortable with disassembling your laptop, get an external
