Silicon power SSD compatibility.

Probably a dumb question but I came across a 60gb silicon power SSD on Amazon for $30 (USD) that would be perfect for me cause it would strictly be used for my os. The question I have is that it's advertised as a laptop SSD and I would be putting it in a mid tower case. Would there be any compatibility issues if I got it?

Yes it is compatible.Standard SATA ports, and your case probably have dedicated 2.5" mount points.

But you will be sorry trying to use a 60GB drive for any recent Windows OS. Simply too small.
For instance, Win 7, after all the updates are applied, takes about 45GB. That is literally ALL of the usable space on that drive.

only issue is mounting in case.
if you case does not have a 2.5 inch drive mount, adapter plates are made. but SSD's are so light if you can get one screw secured the drive will be fine. double sided tape will work, weigh almost nothing.

Yeah I know. But for the price it could be worse. Everything I've found with higher storage is almost double the price. I'd rather cut it close on a small SSD dedicated to just the SSD then not have it at all. If that makes sense.

Yes, larger drives are more expensive. As it is with ALL drive types.
I'm just saying...if an extra $25 for a 120GB is too much, maybe wait a little bit.

"Only the OS" never ends up that way.
Is this going into a new PC or an existing one?

It's a new build. I did a little more research and found a Patriot 128 SSD for about $50 on Amazon and swapped out a lower case and took my hdd down from 2tb to 1( only a $15 difference) and put $1 and change over my $500 budget.

And that is why I asked if new or existing. Much better to trim a teeny bit elsewhere, rather than try to live with a 60GB SSD.

If you're installing WIn 10, that 4GB flash drive is a touch too small.
Win 10 requires 5GB or larger.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
"A blank USB flash drive with at least 5 GB of space or blank DVD (and DVD burner) if you want to create media. We recommend using a blank USB or blank DVD, because any content on it will be deleted. "

I could've sworn it was at least 4gb but oh well. Thanks for the heads up.
