Have a Toshiba satellite S855-S5369. It was taking hours to boot up. Seemed to work fine when it did boot up. Now it does nothing. Screen is black. Power light is on but the amber light next to it on the right is no longer on which it usually is. It will not boot from a recovery disc. Battery light goes from amber to white which tells me it is charging and working at least it seems to be. Fan revs up and down. I've pulled the heat sink and processor and memory with same results. I also pulled the hard drive and it will boot on another laptop. Not sure where to look now.

Sounds like a failed motherboard. No display, fans spinning at odd speeds. A good way to test is to remove the RAM, in many cases if the motherboard is bad the system won't beep when the RAM is removed. If it was a good motherboard it should give you some error beeps with no RAM.

When I do remove the ram and attempt to power on the power light just blinks about every six seconds. No beeps. I was afraid it was the motherboard or processor. I've not had good luck trying to locate a replacement motherboard either.
