Hi

I'm new here researching my first build and looking into the Air 240 case.

I was debating whether to keep the stock fans in the default config i.e 2 intake fan in front and one exhaust fan at the top. To achieve that It would be great if I could mount a push/pull Corsair H75 out of sight on the side panel next to the power supply.

The question is would I be able to mount it there, fit it in that compartment with all the cables and would the tubing fit through the cable holes to the main compartment and reach all the way to the CPU?

On a separate note, would an extra layer of mesh filters all round help reduce dust and would it affect the fans airflow significantly?

Many thanks,

You need the exhaust fan, that wouldn't be worth it. Ok then air540 should be able to take it at the front and still fit another front fan. It's a lot roomier than 240.

The side compartment of 240 has next to no airflow. Putting your cpu radiator there is a poor idea. While filters reduce airflow some, it saves components from a lot of dust and are therefore considered worth it. You can try mounting it up front instead of one of the 120s there.

Hi Sedivy

Thanks for the quick reply.

I thought of mounting there for cosmetic reasons but also not to sacrifice a front fan. Would the one fan be enough for intake?

Well..ideally you want two. If you can't fit the second fan after you mount the radiator then it's better to mount it in the back fan position and leave two intake 2x120s. I get aesthetics but side panel is really poor for this as it has no airflow and in order for this radiator to be functional and actually cool, it has to have large amount of air moving through it.

If you are concerned about airflow block in the back, would you consider a different case? Is there anything particular about this case that you like?

The case looks ok and relatively compact, seems flexible to build in and I like the two compartments. If it ticks some of these boxes then I'm open to an alternative/s :)

Hm ok. Well, thermaltake's v21 (and if you want bigger, it's xcore series) are boxy, but because the mobo lies flat, you can use the single fan radiator and mount it up top, without actually blocking mobo in any way, and could still mount the fan behind the mobo, for efficient airflow over the vram/mosfet. Because it's modular you can specify whether you want see through panel and on which side, whether you want fan mounts up top (this is where I'm thinking of mounting that one radiator) or even on the sides etc.
Their cube x series follows exact same design but bigger so I won't go into detail on them.

Thinking about it now, doesn't air 240 also have slots up top for mounting or am I thinking of the bigger 540 model. Yeah no, the 540 would have slots up top you could mount that radiator on without obstructing the mobo much. I guess it's an alternative.

Good suggestion, thanks! I will look into it.

You may be able to mount it at the top although as push/pull it might impede with mobo. It would be at the expense of Not having the exhaust fan unless you fill the two 80mm slots at the back with exhaust fans.
