I was given a Toshiba Satellite Ultrabook (without internal i/o drives) that was loaded with Linux Mint 18.1 I haven't the savvy to use Linux and wanted the simpler Windows 7. I tried to install Windows 7 Home complete 64 bit, however it won't work says I'm missing a driver for the external DVD drive. Because Linux is installed, how can I reformat without a floppy and in the DVD nothing loads?

Solution
Check on the laptop that you are using USB 2 ports, Windows 7 setup disks will not see USB 3 without some drivers being added, which you can get from Toshiba support but it can be tricky to setup so the installed sees them. If you are just using the system for web browsing and documents and media playing, Linux is no more difficult to use than Windows. Only big benefit of Windows over Linux is with gaming.
