I have a gtx 770 in my build. I play overwatch at epic settings and average around 70fps. My average temps started at around 80, which after extensive reading I concluded was fine, Though I installed one more pc intake. The next day it started to run up to 88 or 89 and averaged around 85. I read about specifically the gtx 770 and saw that this can be harmful. I cleaned took apart the cooling sytem on the gpu (Asus triple fan) and I replaced the thermal paste and cleaned off all the dust. No change. Any ideas?

Solution
with triple fan the temp should be lower but as for heating back then these chips can even go for 90'C-95'C then they starts throttling
i have the same GPU but blower one mine was also reaching upto 92'C then i changed the thermal paste the quality of paste matters really
and after that i have installed a 120mm fan which was always running at full RPM in bottom side blowing cold air to GPU always and ow the GPU Temp is 85-86'C

you can buy the paste but it wont give you much of decrease in temp as in my case it was like -5'C after i changed the paste
