Hello everyone,

I have been thinking about upgrading my pc but I am not sure if my Cpu or Gpu needs an upgrade for max performance.
My Cpu: i5-4590 3.3 ghz
My Gpu: Gigabyte Gtx 970 Gaming 4GB

All advice and suggestions are appreciated!

Note that upgrading to a 7th-gen i5-7600K (coming from a 4th-gen i5-4590) means replacing your motherboard and RAM kit as well, which will cost a LOT.

Have you considered just sticking with your 4th-gen platform, updating the mobo's BIOS, and changing just the CPU to a Haswell-Refresh 4th-gen i7-4790 (or i7-4790K if you do have a Z-chipset mobo)? This will cost you less and would alleviate issues on CPU-intensive games.

If you really want to overhaul your rig, consider also migrating to the Ryzen platform, such as the Ryzen 5 1600 (6-core/12-thread CPU and unlocked/OC'able) instead of the i5-7600K, at $30 less (for the CPU). You'll also gain some savings in choosing a B350-chipset Ryzen motherboard, which is already overclockable...
It really depends on the situation.

If you are gaming at low resolutions on CPU-intensive AAA games and at the same time running a lot of background apps or multi-tasking, then, your CPU would be hindering the performance of your rig.

If you are gaming at higher resolutions on GPU-intensive AAA games on maxed out/Ultra eye-candy graphics settings, then, your GPU would be hindering the performance of your rig.

I always feel like my pc does really bad on cpu heavy games like arma thats why I was looking for some upgrade advice.
So you are saying that I should upgrade my Gpu?

Thanks for the clarification, I usually play rainbow six siege on ulta/high settings and get 120 fps, but whenever I play arma or pubg I get super bad frames (pubg optimisation is a problem aswell). So I feel like I could upgrade my cpu to a i5 7600k and leave my gpu for maybe another year, but I don't want to spent all my money to be dissapointed in performance :p.

Short of upgrading both, I would go for a faster gfx card myself. Besides, you can't put a i5-7600K in that board.
