I'm losing hope after trying everything I read in the articles. Everywhere, not just Tom's Hardware...

CMD utilities, rolling back, updating, checking for specific versions, etc.

I'm using an HP pavilion dv6, GPU is ATI 5650. Windows 7 ultimate x64.

I rolled back to the standard VGA driver, installed recommended AMD drivers again, latest version, everything worked fine for a day, then I went back to having a blue screen.

The problem occurs especially when playing web videos. Display card stops responding, screen freezes, then a BSOD happens.

Even Photoshop won't work properly for not being able to load certain modules. Everything just lags.

I would happily rollback to the standard VGA driver, but then I won't be able to connect another monitor because apparently the VGA port stops working. Bad user experience overall.

I also tried downloading version 8 of the driver but then I discover on install that it's version 15 which confused me. Could the problem be that the driver is "too updated" for the GPU?

So, what's the solution? I can't afford to buy a new laptop.

Can you use a monitoring software to check the temperatures of your GPU? Or maybe a failing fan... If temperatures are correct, try reinstalling the system with the latest drivers.
