Building a system with a 1700 in a Thermaltake Core V1, and it has a CPU Cooler Clearance of 140mm. What cooler should I get with it, or should I stick with the Wraith Spire?

Solution

Wraith Spire is a pretty silent cooler according to most people, and I suppose the aftermarket coolers are, as well. Again, I'd stick...
I can't find a cooler that will do much better that is under 140mm in height. I looked at the Noctua NH-U9S but a video shows little temperature and performance differences.

I think you need to either stick with the WRAITH or consider a liquid cooler if that's an option.

Two coolers that likely do BETTER are the:
a) Be Quiet! Dark Rock TF, and
b) Noctua NH-C14

But the prices were $130 to $165?? (USD)

*Maybe just LEAVE THINGS for now, then revisit later. We should get better coolers for cheaper prices at some point, and as said it's not a huge difference in performance.

(not sure about noise)
