OS vs File Transferring

Hello,

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I'm getting desperate. I want to do a clean install of Windows 7 on a new HDD I installed in my PC recently. However, I also want to move all my files and programs from my old drive to my new, without cloning the existing OS (because I want the clean install). I will still use both drives, I just want to swap the old out for the new. So, in other words, is there any way I can install a new, clean OS on the new drive and then easily bring over just my files, folders, programs, drivers etc. (not the old OS) over from the older drive? Again, apologies for my ignorance...

Cheers!

Of course.
  • 1. Disconnect old drive, connect new one;
    2. Install windows;
    3. Connect old drive and copy user files over to the new drive;
    4. Reinstall rest of the software.
Done.

I was afraid of that........Are there any programs that will do that for me?

Reinstall your programs for you?
If what you use is available here: ninite.com, then yes.
All your other applications? No. That is all manual.

Ok - I guess that's my new project for the week... Thanks for your help! I just have one more question: what about drivers? Will they carry over easily like files? Or do I have to seek those out manually too?
