OS- windows 10

today i replaced the i3 2100 with a core i5 2500k processor. (fan- intel E97379-001)
once i turn on pc,
*during 1st hour- display crashed 2 times.
*2nd hour - mouse didn't worked well
*3rd hour- pc automatically restarted 2-3 times.
also came a blue screen massage. i can't remember the error.
* 4th hour - no problem
*5th hour- while on a stress test, it came blue screen massage ( machine check exception)

what is happening to my pc ?
is it about something wrong with cpu ?
this all happened after i replace the processor

85C is hotter than I would like to see my temps. It is technically not too hot, but something is not right, especially if you are not overclocking. I suspect when under 100% load your CPU is thermal throttling. This will cause your system to shut down to save the CPU from getting damaged by too much heat.

The stock cooler on the i3 should be sufficient for a stock 2500k. I don't think your cooler is installed properly. I would reapply the thermal past and make sure each of the legs on the cooler is in place. Sometimes the Intel stock coolers are a little tricky and you may have one peg that is not fully inserted causing a bad connection of the heat sink and the IHS.
1. After installing CPU, did you boot to BIOS and select "reset to defaults" ?

2. What troubleshooting steps did you undertake. ... " blue screen massage. i can't remember the error." This is important; kinda like coming home from the Doc and telling the wife "Doc said if I don't do this, I'm gonna die, but I don't remember what it was".

3. Write down the STOP ERROR code when this happen and then do a web search on the code to get instructions on how to address it.

4. Open Event viewer and look at the date / time off all Warning and Error messages in the Windows System Log. Copy the detailed message out and paste into a web search window to get instructions on how to address your problem.

BTW, the 2500k can't be overclocked on a H61 MoBo

2500K is supported. No overclocking of course with a H61motherboard.

My reading shows the motherboard to support windows 7.
There are some bios updates to fix windows 8.1 compatibility.
Possibly windows 10 support is your problem.
Latest bios is 0120.
CPU-Z will give you the current bios ID.

It is easy to bend motherboard pins installing a new cpu.
That can cause unpredictable results.
You might take the cpu out and see if there are any bent pins.

What are your temps? Your CPU may be over heating, thus the crashes. The 2500k has a 95 watt TDP while the 2100 has 65 watts. You may need better cooling. Although I would suspect that if the 2500k was not overclocked that the stock cooler should be fine, but maybe not. Did you apply the thermal paste properly? Is the cooler seated on the IHS properly?
