Gtx 1050 ti

So, I am building my first PC
I did put my graphics card it, plugged in the PCI cable and when I start the PC, the fans spin for like a second or so and then stop. I tried getting the graphics card out and put it back in, but it does the same. Could there be something I did wrong?

New cards don't use fans until its temp reaches certain level. Spin up and stop you described is only start-up test (so the card knows its fans work).

mine is a Galax 1050 TI OC 1 fan
and it's fan can't stop spinning nor can it be decreased below 40% speed

when ur fan stop spinning, r u still getting a display?

SUMMARY:
If you have a display viewable, then simply run any game or game benchmark. The fans should spin up. For example, Unigine Valley.

MOST cards have fans off by default now until about 60degC which most but not all games will hit.

So I got this new monitor and I do get a display with it, but exactly 5 minutes after I started my pc, it turns into a different color (red,blue or white for example) and I can't do anything with it.
Could it be because of the graphics card? It is a STRIX 1050GTX TI 4G

Is it always around 5 mins, no mater what you do on PC? Does PC seem to work otherwise? (Tip: turn on some music, if it continues to play after display goes to hell, that would indicate PC still works normally)
If answer is yes to both question, I would suspect something is not right with monitor.

I did try now and yes, audio still works but it is distorted a little bit? Should I send the monitor back? I have warranty for it

I would first try to confirm the problem. Do you have any other source of display (console, TV decoder) to connect to monitor? If it behaves same with different device, that would proof it is indeed monitor's fault.

So it's not monitor problem after all.
Next thing would be to check GPU temps. Install and run software that can monitor temps (like HWinfo, Speccy or HWmonitor or other), and report what are temps and fan speeds just before display goes out.

I would not expect GPU to overheat in 5 min anyway, but the effect (especially timing) is somewhat curious. You mentioned another PC - can you put your GPU into in and check what happens? Also, did you used the same video cable with both machines? It would be very strange for cable to cause such effect, but not entirely impossible.

Troubleshooting the monitor (not necessarily in order):

First, based on the above comments it sounds like it is the GTX1050Ti graphics card. It's odd that the AUDIO is already screwed up. That could be coincidence as it's a new PC.

I assume you are using HDMI or DP and the audio is coming through the same cable as the video?

That could suggest the cable, but don't overthink it. In TROUBLESHOOTING we often swap parts starting with what's easiest or available, but if you have the PROPER PARTS the common method is the "HALF SPLIT METHOD" which for example means take the entire system (Monitor + PC) and then isolate which half the problem is in...

If the monitor (and same cable) works with another PC then it's the PC... then proceed to separate the VIDEO CARD from the rest of the system... for example if the iGPU works then it's likely the GTX1050Ti graphics card.

1. different graphics solution (graphics card OR, plug into the motherboard if you have an iGPU... that will use the CPU graphics. Ryzen has no graphics)

2. different cable

3. different CONNECTOR (i.e. HDMI instead of DisplayPort)

4. Different computer

5. Different monitor/HDTV

I am using a DVI-D cable
Today it worked for like 2-3 hours, I even got to try out games on it, I got solid 60FPS on Mount&Blade Warband with max settings and with a 400 men battle
As I was playing, the monitor became black and the sound got distorted (I am using a headset)
I restarted the PC and now my monitor says "No video input" again, just like the days prior.
I am starting to get really pissed off since this is the 4th day of struggle and I worked pretty hard this summer to get the money for it.

GPU is very unlikely to affect the sound (especially since u're using DVI)

And no, for me the whole monitor goes off and audio also gets distorted

usually meant for giving u the error code so u know what's wrong with the PC (different BIOS had different code though but if u post the beeps here we might be able to help u with that

since u're on the verge of returning it anyway, i think this worth a try: upgrading the motherboard BIOS

i had this kind of trouble (sort of) once, my new GTX 1050ti won't run in my system [ no sound distortion though], coz of 2 reason:
1. my monitor doesn't support the digital signal so i need an active adapter
2. my BIOS doesn't support it so i need a BIOS update

here's how to update it:
go to mobo's brand website
search for your mobo type
download the latest BIOS
let the process run (don't let your PC shuts down during that)
pray and hope it works after that

if not, time to RMA the GPU i guess..
