Preferred case for modding?

Hi there,

I'm going to be tackling my first ever modded computer as a gift for my brother this Christmas. As I have never been through the process, I would like to gather information from ones who have. Is there a certain case some pick out no matter the mod you are designing? Do you ever mess with the mesh/airflow holes on the case to make it more of what you would like? Feel free to throw in some other tips, links or suggestions that have to do with modding. Thank you so much for any input you provide!

My favorite case is a random cheapo throwaway case for almost no money + a sheet of aluminium and some plexiglass.

Awesome, appreciate your help. I will check them out. Have you done any modding yourself? Only asking because it would be nice to reach out to someone and bounce questions off of as I go along with this project. Either way, thank you!

Well case modding is something that I generally like to keep to a minimum. To me the best case is the one that minimizes the amount of work I gotta do... not cause I'm lazy but because my skillz w/ a dremel are not up to factory standards. For example I modded this radiator mounting arrangement to make a drain fo the water cooling loop in an Enthoo Primo

here's some shots from a Enthoo Luxe

That thread I put in above post included AutoCAD drawings, radiator sizing , acrylic tube bending, fittings and tons of stuff

Looks good. I'm also unsure of my Dremel skills, but we shall see! Thanks for your help!
