I have 2 windows 7 installed. One on my SSD and the other one on my HDD. I am currently using the one on my SSD. I deleted the windows folder on the hdd as I was no longer using it. Now when I try to remove the hdd from my motherboard, I am getting the following error : "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key" and the windows 7 on the SSD don't load. The hdd must be connected to my motherboard so that the windows on the SSD can load. I don't understand why.

- I check the boot priority and my SSD is first in the list.

- My boot mode is currently on UEFI + Legacy mode

- I try to set my SSD as 'Active' but it is still not working

- The windows on the SSD was not installed in BIOS mode

Please help me. Thanks

If you installed it to the ssd from inside of windows on the hdd then the MBR for both OS was on the HDD. One thing you can do if you don't mind re installing programs is to do a custom install on the ssd choosing to just install on top of the current partition. Do not format or delete anything. When windows installs it will put all of your files and and stuff from the old installation into the windows.old folder

when you installed windows to the SSD did you have the HDD plugged in and powered up?
if so I think the boot record for the SSD is on the HDD. remove the HDD and the Master Boot Record for the SSD is gone and SSD cannot boot.
the system is fine when you return the HDD?

R_1's install advice always make sure the target drive is the only one powered when installing an OS. after the OS is installed the drives can be powered on. good advice even if this does not turn out to be the issue.

Yeah you are right, I installed the windows to the ssd from inside of windows on the hdd. I will have to re-install the windows on the SSD. I thought there was another solution apart from re-installing the windows.
