Upgrading my pc what should i buy?

I friend of mine is upgrading his pc and doesnt know what to buy he currently has

4 gb ram

Intell i5 4440

500w power supply

He hasnt bought a graphics card yet

The pc is for work and a little gaming apparently the pc is a bit slow. what are the best upgrades to buy just to speed things up at a cheap price and make gaming better with a budget of 150£ thanks!

The cpu is still pretty good for general workload and casual gaming. The latency is probably due to insufficient RAM.
Get another 4gb of the same RAM that is already installed to make it 8gb and get a basic card like the gtx1050 to get much better gaming performance. Both of those combined should ideally fit the budget.
