Recently I upgraded my motherboard and ever since then every game i play has terrible lag and i'm getting around 300-400 ping most of the time. I play Overwatch the most and the Packet loss icon in-game is always flashing. I use a wired connection and i don't see why my motherboard would do this. I'm thinking maybe its something to do with the Ethernet port.

My components:
MOBO: MSI B250M Mortar Motherboard
CPU: Intel Quad Core i5 7600k
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 2400mhz
GPU: GTX 980

Is this definitely a motherboard issue?

Solution
It could be as simple as a loose network cable. Try re-seating it. Borrow a new cable and try that. Try a different port on the router or switch in case the keystone there has a cold-solder joint. If you otherwise like your motherboard, you could also try an add-on network card (NIC) they are very cheap and easier to drop in than ripping out the MB.
