XMP profile on different different capacity RAM

So, I am 90% sure that I know the answer to this, but I need confirmation.

I have 2x 4GB G.Skill Ripjaws V @ 3200 (CL16D-GVK) 16-16-16-36 and I would like to add 2x 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws V @3200 16-16-16-36. So basically the exact same RAM but with bigger capacity.

Will I have a problem when I install them and try to use the XMP profile on all 4 (again as I said, exact same timings) because of the difference in capacity?

Thanks for your time and answers!

RAM can be very finicky sometimes. Mixing and Matching RAM does not always work, even if it is the same model and timings. This is why RAM is sold in kits as they are tested to work together. You may also have issues with PC properly reading the capacities. The only way to know for sure is to test it. But honestly, if you are gaming there is not a need to go for more than 16gb of RAM. I would upgrade to the 16gb kit and sell the 8gb kit on the used market.

what are the readings cpu-z spd give fro the 2 set on jedec you could use the 2 new one to bott system and if they work try to use 1 new with 1 old on the same chanel bot and see how it goes if system is stable do the same settings with the other channel if you want to keep all ram .

That's exactly what I wanted to do in the beginning but I thought: Hey, if they do work, then I got a huge upgrade in RAM capacity.

If they work, I will keep them, if not, I will sell the 8GB kit.

thanks again guys
