About a week ago I replaced my laptops fan because it had been making noises for a while and it finally broke, I also cleaned most of the dry thermal paste and applied some fresh one. I couldn't find the little white pads anywhere so I reused the old ones.
I always use my laptop with a cooling pad and an external USB fan, pointing to the side that gets really hot and where my palm rests.
The problem is, my laptop is now running around 70-80°C on idle, even hotter than when it had a broken fan (??? how is this even possible) and it shuts down when I play games.
With the old, malfunctioning fan, it was running around 55-65° on idle.
What do you guys think is causing this?
Thanks in advance.
