I am trying to set up my RGB LED strip in my dorm but the red channel goes out about halfway through the strip. I tried using a different power supply and powering it from the other end, so the problem is definitely in the lights. Is there a way to fix this without having to buy a new one?

Solution
Did the strip ever fully work?

Gently wiggle, twist, and bend the LED strip in between the lit and unlit sections. If you can get all of the red to blink, flash, or otherwise light up then there is probably a broken connection/conductor.

Test in a darkened environment.....

I do have some experience with LEDs and from what I know when the strip is only powered half the strip, it is most likely not receiving enough current and or voltage. Are you using an led driver? like the ones that come with some LED strips. You can also try simultaneously powering the strip from the opposite side.
Or try powering the other side only and see if the leds on the other side are working or not.
