Will an Asus tuff mark 2 overclock an i5 7500

I just bought vengeance lgx 3000mhz ram & I am picking up an i5 7500 tomorrow will the asus tuff mark 2 overclock this to run at the extra ram speed? If not any one have any suggestions first time changing any parts in the custom built pc I bought

For overclocking, get a K-series CPU which has an unlocked multiplier such as the i5-7600K or the i7-7700K.

You cant overclock the 7500. But you will be able to overclock the RAM with your board. But don't expect a big performance boost.

If I were you I would get a 7600k and a decent air cooler to run on that board and you will be in good shape. If you have a bigger budget, go for the 7700k.

The 6600k only has a few fps difference when in game and I'm picking up the cpu cheap would it be worth overclocking the r and getting the asus tuff mark 2 or should I scrap the whole idea & get something else :/

Overclocking RAM on Intel CPUs gives you very little performance increase. I would not pay the premium for a "z" board just to overclock the RAM. If you are getting a good deal on the 7500, then just get a mid range h270 board and buy the best priced RAM you can get and go for it.

The base clock of the K model is higher and will give you quite a bit extra performance. Also as you can overclock it, it will give you even more.
Also don't one click OC, do it the right way.

No, don't "one click" OC your chip. Overclocking is very easy. Check out Jayztwocents on youtube. He has a good overclocking guide that is easy to follow.

If it were me, I would buy the 7600k. But I like overclocking too. You will get better performance from the 7600k than you will out of the 7500. Some games the performance gap will be small. Some games the performance gap will be big.

If you don't have the motherboard or CPU today. Then wait 2 weeks. The new 8th gen CPUs are coming out and the 8600k will be a 6 core chip rumored for the same price as the 7600k. If that is the case it will be a very good chip.

The board has built in software that overclocks it for you will it not be the same thing? If not would you recommend a different board or is this one good? & as it's my first pc and first time upgrading don't want to spend too much I only play ark haha

All of the boards have the same built in software. The problem is they apply too much voltage than is needed and your chips will run hotter than they should. Too much voltage or too much heat kills a CPU. This is why you should do it manually where you have exact control over how much voltage is sent to the chip.

All CPUs are different. Even the 7600k that are boxed next to each other. Some chips require less voltage to get higher speeds while some chips require more voltage to get the same speed. This is why a "one size" fits all approach does not work well with overclocking software.

Ohh I see I thought it was a special feature on that board haha if I was to OC the chip would I have to buy a power supply with more voltage? I considering just getting the 7500 & not overclocking it if that's the case as it all seems too much right now and anything is better than the i5 2400 I have at the moment I have a gtx1050ti too so not the best gpu

A 7500 would be a good upgrade. You have an intel board, so that will limit your upgrade options with your current CPU. So the problem you have, is that to do a full upgrade, you will need a new CPU/Mobo/RAM.

If it were me I would wait till Oct. 5 to make a decision. on 10/5 Intel will release their new generation of CPUs and they may offer a significant performance upgrade for the same price.

If you want something now, then the 7500 will be a good choice to pair with your 1050ti. I would get any midrange h270 motherboard and any RAM. High speed RAM will not matter because you will not be able to use it on a H board.

If you are getting a "k" CPU, then go for the ASUS board. It is a good board and the 7600k is the second best gaming chip in the world.

I don't know what PSU you currently have. But a 450 watt PSU should be enough. You want to make sure you have a quality PSU. A cheap PSU can damage your components. I would get a brand from EVGA, Seasonic, or Corsair.
