I'm in the process of building a new PC, this is my second build, and I'm worried I may bent the pins in my mobo when installing my CPU.
The mobo is an ASUS ROG Maximus IX Hero and the CPU is an Intel i7-7700k. I decided to try and use the ASUS CPU installation tool, which was a pain trying to get my CPU into. And then when I went to install my CPU, I set it into the socket and accidentally slid it (very slightly) across part of the socket before it clicked into place. It dropped into place fine and locked with no issues.
My question is, what are the chances I bent some pins when it slid across the socket, even if it was momentarily, and if I did bend some pins, will I need to get a new mobo and CPU or just mobo.
I seem to recall doing this on my last build on accident too and never had any issues, I'm just wondering what the chances are of bent pins. I have yet to power on the PC as I'm waiting for a couple more pieces to come in.
