I just put new ram in my rig and after a few minutes it bsod's with the memory manager note.

I managed to get into the control panel and can see the 32gb ram there, but I don't get much time to do anything else. After a few restarts windows would boot but crash before getting to the login screen.

Reinstalling the old ram fixed everything.

Is there a compatability issue with ram speed? I brought corsair vengeance 2400mhz, my old ram was 1600mhz.

I have gigabyte Ga-z97x-ud3h. The support section states 2400 (o.c.) is that 2400 mhz?

Dual channel memory architecture

Support for DDR3 3100(O.C.) / 3000(O.C.) / 2933(O.C.) / 2800(O.C.) / 2666(O.C.) / 2600(O.C.) / 2500(O.C.) / 2400(O.C.) / 2200(O.C.) / 2133(O.C.) / 2000(O.C.) / 1866(O.C.) / 1800(O.C.) / 1600 / 1333 MHz memory modules
Support for non-ECC memory modules
Support for Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) memory modules
(Please refer "Memory Support List" for more information.)

Should it be as simple as powering down unplugging swapping the ram sticks and then powering up?

Thanks for any help
