New Computer Keeps Crashing Randomly

Hi, I recently built a new computer for my brother with my old parts. I installed windows and such, but even before that it was crashing randomly. After windows installed, I started to install chrome/steam/blizzard/geforce, and it crashed. It just keeps crashing randomly. Any ideas? Maybe overheating? All of the parts are fine, as I used them for a different computer a while back and the motherboard is brand new. Thanks

Specs:
asus 970 strix oc
amd fx 8350
evga 500b
nzxt s340
16 gb corsair vengeance
stock cpu cooler
Gigabyte GA 78LMT Am3+

I can also try reseating the cpu, sometimes that works.

what board do you recommend for the fx 8350? preferably matx, but I can fix a larger board. Also, would stock cooler work on this new board? Thanks.

Also what about a new cooler and not a new board?
