Most will use GPT on drives larger than 1Tb, makes partitioning easier. For 1Tb or less there's essentially no difference between MBR and GPT other than where partition/boot info is stored. With MBR all partition/boot info is stored at the beginning of the drive, in GPT that info is stored at the beginning of each individual partition instead. The biggest bonus to this is if the master boot record itself gets corrupted, you are up the creek with a tiny paddle, facing the wrong way. With GPT, if any of the boot records get corrupted, it doesn't affect the other partitions.
So. If the hdds are blank or have data that can be easily backed up so as not to be lost, it's not going to hurt to change from MBR to GPT, but as said prior, it's...
