Just got a new build together:

CPU: i5 6600k @ 3.5Ghz
GPU: GTX 970
Ram: 16gb DDR4 @ 3000mz

For some reason I am getting 100% usage in my CPU when I play Overwatch. That game is not very demanding so I am wondering if it is normal? I don't lag or anything, if I didn't have task manager open I would never know. Same goes for GPU as well surprisingly.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this usage? I ran a Super Position Benchmark and got this

I get between 68-79 degrees when playing the game, and have 100% gpu usage the whole time basically. No lag though it runs great. Is this a concern?

Getting 65 degrees when in windows browsing web/doing nothing. That seems pretty high for an idle temp.

overwatch uses as much power as you got, unless you restrict it?

temps seem fine, well belove operational cap. im sure a gamer will be able to give you better target figures.

youre running a 'k' with liquid cooling? or fan/heatsink? as gaming temps dont seem to be anywhere near 100 degrees, i would suggest your cooler's working but if its a concern you could go into your bios and change the fan profile.

Are you making the claim that the high usage I see is a good thing? I don't lag or anything but it seems weird for a game to have to use 100% in a non power hungry game like Overwatch.

yes i am claiming overwatch is cpu intensive ... its in the first generation of multithreaded game execution, it isnt streamlined (unless they patched it).
i5 isnt multi thread enabled so its using all 4 cores.

so in reality overwatch is quite power hungry. appaently turning on v-sync helps reduce load.

i cannot help you past this point, because its blizzards programming thats at fault. If anyone knows different, please chime in.

My main qualms came from having bought a dudes barebones online. I was just wondering if he sold me a shotty rig or something. But you are saying that my experience is pretty common place.

What fps are you getting? You should get a little more than the 4690k in this chart if your gpu keeps up
