I just moved into a new flat and since I have no way to connect to a router directly I use one of the TP-Link ethernet extender (One device plugged in to router downstairs and the other to my pc). Recently the internet speed on the pc went down. Using speedtest.net the download speed usually ranged between 1 and 2 mb/s to compare it I used the same website on my phone and it reached 60+ mb/s. I tried different ethernet cables to no avail. It is incredibly annoying since watching or downloading anything on my pc takes a lot of patience. Could it be faulty extender? I tried researching more but didn't see anyone with same problem. Thank you.

EDIT: I managed to increase the speed to 30mbps, it is satisfactory, however still 2x lower than wifi on my mobile

Do you mean powerline network adapters. Generally the performance is fairly stable and does not change a lot on these devices. They are subject to interference from stuff on your home electrical. I know I have a vacuum cleaner that will kill the connection if I plug it into a outlet in the same room. The newer av2- models work much better than the older av200 and av500 models.
