I put together a build on Pc Partpicker: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/ishanpatel123/saved/XyTCyc
Will this be good enough for gaming and compiling code? I am also doing game development. I am planning to upgrade in few years. I have a 1600x900 resolution monitor.

Here is another build on Pc Partpicker: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9tDc8K
I know its 2017 and I need an SSD, but I am on a really tight budget. Should I go with this build or the first one? I will add an ssd or m.2 in a year or so.

I already have a 250gb segate barracuda.

Yes, good enough for modern games with med-high setting for 1080p. Only thing is you may want to throw in a 1tb HDD for ~$40, WD or Seagate or Toshiba are all good choices.

Surprised you fit in those parts for $500. It will work for light gaming at 1080p in med-high settings without AA. A few things to note:

1) you should consider 2x4 ram instead of 1x8 because the cpu supports multi channel ram. This will have slightly better performance.

2) that PSU may not fit in the case. I noticed you are going for a microATX build but that power supply is ATX. Usually they work fine by just a thought because you wouldn't want to put it outside of the case I'm guessing.

3) go for the first build. The difference in proccessors is very very subtle and not with it. It is better to go with the ssd, especially since you have a seagate barracuda.
