Hello all! So i upgraded from the 6300, to 4690k last spring. Was a massive difference and was very pleased. Today, it seems like the 4690k is struggling to keep up with some games such as BF1, WoW, and Pubg. Want to watch a stream and play? Forget about it because the CPU would just hit 99%. The GPU never hits 100% and the CPU caps almost all the time with these games as well.

My question is, should i upgrade to Ryzen, skylake, or 4790k? GPU is currently GTX 1070, 16gb of ram,144hz/1080p monitor, and cooler is Hyper Evo 212.

You could get a cheap ex lease business class pc to watch the stream on, just a thought. I have a 6700K and tend to watch youtube or netflix while gaming and generally it's not a problem, but some games don't play nice with dual screen so I use an HDMI switch and have a NUC with a low powered i3 I can use on the second screen some times. Around here you can pick up ex lease 2nd or 3rd gen i3 and i5 powered PCs for less than the cost of windows.

Anyway if you are capping a 4 core i5 at 100% and want to upgrade you should look at something with more physical cores like a Ryzen or the about to be released next gen of intel. Apparently i5s are getting 6 cores in the next gen. A skylake i7 would work but you are not actually gaining that...
