Should I still upgrade to a 1080 ti

Thinking about upgrading my 980 ti because I've been noticing some performance issues in some games. It isn't a hardware or software problem though, because all the benchmarks online and everywhere else add up to my performance.

I just don't wanna get it and then have something better come out in like a 2-3 months.

Something better will always come out. The GTX1080Ti is an excellent card.

I'm not sure how long it will be until VOLTA for desktop PC comes out. It might be at least six months, and even then who's to say if it's any cheaper for similar performance.

You'll get up to a 2x boost in FPS or better graphics, or likely some combo of the two.

Frankly, if my monitor was only so-so I'd consider investing in a GSYNC monitor instead (i.e. 2560x1440, IPS, 144Hz) though they are too expensive for me to invest yet.

The 980TI is still a nice card, but it might be stretched on providing fluid frame rates for 144 Hz monitors...

But, unless the CPU is at a certain level, some of even the 1080Ti's performance level is also left 'off the table' ... (For instance, I'd not be getting a 1080Ti if on an older i5 CPU, or, on any pre-Ryzen AMD cpu....)
