Computer won't use new GPU

Hey guys. Recently, I upgraded my GPU to a GTX 1060. However, multiple things have happened and a solution evades me. First, my Device Manager doesn't show the GPU at all. Second, Nvidia drivers always fail, saying "Nvidia installer failed" no matter what I do. Also, I do not see any method of switching to this new GPU in the BIOS settings. However, when I scan my PC for my GPU on the Nvidia website, the GTX 1060 pops up. My monitor is plugged into the GPU directly and works fine. Even the Motherboard map shows that a Nvidia PCIE is installed. It's like the GPU is installed, and can be used, but it's like my PC just doesn't use it for it's actual purpose. Help please? Thanks.

No problem with that PCIex16 slot with your old card?
Let's try cleaning the system. Run CCleaner and do the Clean and Registry portions both. Next...
Run DDU from safe mode and have it uninstall any Nvidia and AMD driver remnants it finds. Then reboot. You will be using the Windows generic driver, but see if the GTX 1060 shows up now in DM.
If so, try installing the latest driver for the card.

Thanks for the Reply. I have the Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060, found here. https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/10series/geforce-gtx-1060/

As for my specs, here you go.

OS: Windows 8.1 x64
CPU: Intel Core i5-6500
Motherboard: MSI 7972
Ram: 8 gigs
PSU: EVGA 500 B1

That is a reference model (founder's edition) by Nvidia. Is that what you have or do you have a brand name model?
Are you sure the monitor is plugged into the card and not the motherboard? That's sure what it sounds like.

That's exactly what I have. And yes, I'm positive it's plugged into the GPU.

Thanks for the reply. No, the PCI-E slot had no issues before this card. And thank you for the recommendation, I'll try it in a little while.
