Something weird happened to me recently, but firstly I will list my current setup:

New PC:
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 (not overclocked with stock cooler)
Motherboard: Asus Prime B350 Plus
RAM: 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000Mhz (not overclocked)
GPU: MSI R9 380 4GB / MSI GTX970 4GB (Both gpu's that i've tried separately)
PSU: Corsair CX600 80+ Bronze 600w

Old PC:
Processor: AMD FX8350 4.0Ghz
Motherboard: Asrock 990FX Extreme3
RAM: 2x4GB 2400Mhz G.Skill DDR3
GPU: MSI R9 380 4GB
PSU: Corsair CX600 80+ Bronze 600w

I've recenly upgraded my old pc to the one stated above, but I wasn't planning to upgrade the GPU just for now (the r9 380), but it kinda forced me to do it. Let me explain why.

IWhen I upgraded the setup, I did a fresh windows 10 install with everything put together, but i had several issues with the setup, firstly it gave me BSOD 3 times in less then an hour (VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR) it was always the same bsod, then i reinstalled the drivers and it fixed for a bit, but not for long... The temps were all alright idle was about 30ºC, while gaming 50ºC, i've only tested gaming on CS:GO (everything on low settings and 4:3 resolution) since it is a pretty low graphics game nowadays.

But what happened was that, as soon as I entered cs go, the game kept on switching between the desktop and the game several times, over and over, until it gets stable for a bit, after a couple of minutes (while playing 250-300 fps) always unstable, meanhile the drivers were ALWAYS getting crashed. So yea i couldn't fix this.

Later on, i asked my mate to lend his GTX 970, so I could run some tests, well finally got something different, but this time, the BSOD occured just once, and it was the same BSOD as before, as soon as I started google chrome. But never happened again, while gaming it had a tremendous difference, I could game for hours without any switching between the game and the desktop BUT in the other hand, I experienced several game crashes (sometimes it could keep on playing, but in other times I had to reboot the pc in order to keep on playing because it would never come back again) also the same happened, the drivers also would crash sometimes, but not as much as the r9 380.

So my guess is that the gpu's weren't good enough to keep up with the Ryzen 5 1600, what are your thoughts on this?

I appreciate any help in advance!

UPDATE ON THE SITUATION:

So I've tried now a different gpu, the r9 270x 2GB and the best one I've tried so far, but still I've had a small issue, so let me explain.

Apparently I'm able to play a full game with 200-360 fps without any fps drops or failures, BUT the only thing that happens is that, as soon as i enter the game at 4:3 res for the 1st time (it only happens on 4:3 res) i'm able to play with 200-360 fps for 2 to 3 minutes then it switches to the desktop and then to the game, and it gives an windows error: "Application "csgo.exe"/"chrome.exe" has been blocked from accessing Graphics hardware" and the fps gets stuck between 90-100 fps, but as soon as I Alt + tab the game and enter back in without doing anything more, the fps comes back up and I can constantly play throughout the rest of the game without any issue... I've monitored the temps all game, and the processor MAX temp was 50ºC and the GPU was 60ºC never more than that

This is weird and i don't know what may be causing this... Also i tried to fix that windows error with several fixing issues on google and none of them worked, it always happens, it also happens with chrome...

I've find this really odd, i thought it could be the psu, but i was running until i upgraded, as you can see a more powerfull setup, without issues, and since the problems that i have are with gaming crashes and driver issues, i expect it to be the bottlenecks. Also i can be all day browsing the web watching videos on youtube without a crash or driver bugs...

It should be power then, since the temps were always fine, I checked every 2-3 minutes and they were perfectly fine, but the thing is, if it is the PSU how was it running the fx8350 before, and can't handle a ryzen 5 1600? the TDP is much lower then the fx..

It's not much lower, it's ~30W. (125 vs 95) You said it also got better with using the 970 which again has a lower power draw than your 380. Wait, 380 or 390? 380, so it should be a similar draw. Hmmm.

Rather than just tell us the temps are ok, what are they? What board and cooler do you have? Any chance the motherboard/VRMs are getting too warm?

The GPU temps for both cards at idle were sitting at ~35ºC while gaming between ~50-55ºC, gaming for 6 hours straight gave me those temps, I don't believe the Mobo VRMs were getting too warm since the system was running at stock settings.. the Mobo was getting me ~30-40ºC..

As of the cooler I'm using the stock amd wraith spire cooler.

My PSU is the best that i have, the cpu temps at idle are between ~30-40ºC, while on load (gaming) 40º-55ºC.

The best that you have might not be good enough. And if it's been running max out with the old setup it might simply have died even with the lower setup. Other things are possible like a bad motherboard, but I would think that would cause issues when not gaming as well. If you have issues under load it's nearly always a temp or power issue. If temps are fine, that really leaves the power as the next most likely culprit.

You're right, I'm thinking the same, here is what I will to, I will bring the setup to the shop where I got the new hardware so they can see what is really going on.. Thanks everyone for the help, I'll update this post as soon as I know what was the issue...

Yes, i updated the bios successfully to the latest version, the ram speed i left it set at "auto" without tweaking anything, just running stock settings

I don't have the r9 380 anymore, I sold it to buy a new one. Since i thought it was getting some type of compatibility issues....
