i really want to upgrade my processor, currently i have an AMD Athon 4X 860K Quad Core. This is really not doing justice for games i want to play like PUBG. so i want to upgrade to an intel i5. however i don't know what else i might need to upgrade in order to have it be compatible with the new processor. here are my specks

Processor: AMD Athon 4X 860K Quad Core

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950

Motherboard; ASRock FM2A58M-VG3+ R2.0

Ram: 8GB

I'm just wondering if i need a new motherboard for the new i5 processor, or if anything else isn't compatible with it. Thanks a bunch!

You have an AMD platform, FM2+,and are running pretty much the best FM2+ processor you can without going to an APU that won't be as fast. If you want to go faster, go for a new board and processor. You can recycle all your other components (RAM etc) if you go for a board and processor that's older than Sylake or Kaby Lake, so pretty much Broadwell/Haswell. Even a low-end Core i5 will give you a great boost in gaming over the 860. Plan on spending around $300 to $350 for the board and processor.

What is your budget? The CPU and MB have no room for upgrades. Any real upgrade will involve new MB, CPU and probably new ram, new gpu. What psu do you have and how old? I5 is not worth buying due to Ryzen. Let us know and we can put together a list for you.
