I need to know what could to go along in this build, the i3 is just a place holder for now, what cpu should I get?

I have already bought the case and psu. I got the psu for 50 on eBay in good condition. Also the SSD is 56 on eBay and 2 TB hdd on eBay for 40, if I can get those for those prices I'll have a better budget on the cpu, my entire budget is 650$.

I calculated the build excluding cpu and cooler, if I can get the drives on eBay for around 90, then I'll have almost 190 for the cpu. (Sorry for editing this so many times, it's my first time building a PC and using this website) :)

Pc part picker says the over all wattage is around 230 with i3-7100

I would either go cheaper to a Pentium g4560/4600, which performs within 10% of the i3 or stay the same price and get a ryzen 3 1200 and oc it on stock cooler to around 3.8 GHz which will beat the i3 7100 by ~10%

I did some refining on the list:

The total I am paying for this build though is 545 if I can get the 2 the drive and 250 SSD for 90 in all! Which allows for a gaming mouse and keyboard, thank you!

I suggest you get 2 4gb RAM sticks instead of 1 8gb

I suggest you read the original post before replying.

Change the board to the one I listed above. It has 4 RAM slots instead of 2, so you can add 2 sticks later. Run the RAM in dual channel for better speed and redundancy.

Or maybe just not get a trash Msi board at all and instead get an Asrock board.
And yes, i have a B350 Tomahawk in my pc atm and it sucks hard.

I have overclocked the 1600 on the exact same board(Tomahawk) without any issues. Your experience doesnt generalize brand quality or efficiency. ASRock has more complaints against it than MSI.

Get an ASRock AB350M Pro4.
It has 4 ram slots, Better bios, Better vram cooling and better power delivery.

You can't expect much overclocking potential out of a b350 board (the tomahawk certainly proves that) but the damn thing nearly fried my 1700 on stock settings because Msi seems to think that 1.44v is needed to run a 1700 at it's stock speeds. And yes, i'm not the only one who had that happen to them.
