Hi I recently acquired a cx 750 for my gtx 590 stock 6300 build and people have been saying the older green cx PSU are bad (which I what I have) so I've researched that there are two cwt versions cwt pub-q vs cwt dsa ll which one is better and which platform belongs to the 400,500,600 and which to the 750,850 ? Thanks

The CX series should be avoided. The CXM series is much better and can best be described as a "good PSU for the money", but the emphasis is on those last 3 words. The the S12 rated at 9.7 by jonnyguru available for $33, I can't see looking at anything else.

Some of the old CX were actually made by Seasonic

MPSU-400CX / Seasonic S12II series
CMPSU-430CX / CWT DSAII series
CMPSU-430CXV2 / CWT DSAII series

The newer ones have a black and white label.

I argued, and still mostly believe, that the green label ones aren't horrible. They aren't a fire hazard, they can output what their label says. Yes, they use 85C main caps and use less than "tier 1" caps all over. But that shouldn't mean they are junk. For what you pay for them they are quite good. AT this point however it's pretty dumb to buy one. Corsair has redesigned them and the new ones are better, for as cheap or a similar price. Why buy an older design that isn't as good? I wouldn't tell people to who have a green label one to run out and buy a new one, but if you are buying a new PSU I'd make sure to get the black label one.

300W GPU + 125W CPU + 50W rest of the system comes to 475W load. If you want this number to be ~80% of the output you should buy something with 594W on the 12V rail(s). This means you should be buying a 600-650W PSU for best efficiency. Just a heads up.

The older S12II's and M12II's aren't Haswell certified so I wouldn't recommend using them in newer current systems. But then the Haswell certified units aren't the ones that are around $30 either.

Check the specs before buying.

Well we saw 2 Green label CX units that burned here on the forum in just the past 2 weeks.

Personally I would recommend anyone that has one replace it as they could be on borrowed time at this point.
