Right now I am using the stock ATT DNS server that came when I bought the PC. What is the advantage of changing it to Google DNS server?

It does not even have the ip you viewed it only contains what you key in. You would not really use it as a alternative to DNS. Most people use it to get around when the DNS server gives different results based on where the DNS server is located and you want a different value. This used to be how you could get past netflix geo restrictions.
Nothing really its just that google dns is actually huge number of machine sharing a single IP address in multiple cites so it tends to be very stable and very fast. When you use your ISP dns it maybe a single machine at a single location and if it fails you in effect have no internet.

Technically you don't need any dns....if you were to key all the names and ip into the host file on your machine.
