So, after 10 years of extensive use my Razer Copperhead finally died, and I need a replacement.

I know that modern Razer products don't have nearly the quality their old stuff did, so I'm probably going to need to look elsewhere.

So, I'm looking for a new mouse with these properties:
1. Onboard memory (i.e. will save settings to the mouse and function on another PC without installing any software whatsoever beyond the automatically installed windows driver)
2. Wired (and only wired).
3. Ambidexterous (I've tried 'ergonomic' mouse designs in the past and hated them.)
4. Have at a minimum: left/right click, scroll wheel/click, and at least two programmable thumb buttons.
5. Must not be made by Logitech (I've had a large number of bad experiences with their products)

Aside from that, decent build quality is my only consideration. Any modern 'gaming' mouse is going to have more than sufficient DPI, and I don't need to adjust it on-the-fly.

So, any recommendations?

Not sure you're going to find ambi with two programmable on either side...

The Razer Imperator is great, has onboard profiles, two buttons, and on the fly dpi adjustment. Have really enjoyed mine.

Edit: may have to install Synapse to use the onboard profiles.

Yeah, you do need to install Synapse, which puts everything Razer makes out of the running. Otherwise I'd just buy a new diamondback. I have a Taipan for my other PC and don't want another for that reason.

Two thumb buttons isn't that rare, every Razer mouse has that anyway, and I know a lot of the Logitech ones do.

J_E_D_70 is saying for the mouse to be a truly ambidextrous you would need two thumb buttons on the left side and two thumb buttons on the right side, which would be extremely rare.
