Hi, I have spectrum with 120 mbps, and a ASUS Nighthawk AC1750. If I want to maximize my wifi speed on my computer, do I need an AC1750 adapter? Or will an AC600 adapter perform the same as a AC1750 adapter since I only have a max speed of 120 mbps?

Thanks

You may have trouble getting 120m on any wireless connection. The farther away you are the less chance you have. No way to even predict this because the construction of your house make the difference.

Nighthawk are netgear routers but pretty much all the major brands have similar performance that have the same ratings.

A so called 1750 is running the 802.11ac at 1300 encoding. This requires 3 streams/antenna to accomplish this. A AC600 is running the 802.11ac at 433. This is a single stream. If you were to use this adapter on the 1750 router it would only use a single stream and be the same as if you had a ac600 router.

Now all these numbers are magic marketing numbers you nowhere near those rates. In addition going...

Now all these numbers are magic marketing numbers you nowhere near those rates. In addition going from say 1 antenna to 2 does not double the speed because of the complexity. adding the 3rd and 4th antenna adds less and less because of complexity. This is why they do not just put 100 antenna on a router.

I would say to have any hope of getting 120mbps you need to have the 1750 nic card also. You may or may not get it. Now if you were to stand right next the router it would easily get it.
