Well, I've got this old HP Deskjet, which I want to print to from my android phone over my home network.
I've a netgear AC750 as the gateway router, and Netgear routers have this feature called Readyshare which lets you share a USB device over the network.
A while ago, I connected the printer to the USB port of the router, and after setting up the printer through windows PC, I figured out a way to print over android, through an app called 'Priintershare'. I could print just fine for a month or so, after which it suddenly stopped working - printershare mobile couldn't even detect the printer on the network. I gave up on that thereafter.

Some months ago I bought a Synology NAS, which also has the feature to share USB devices over network, including printers. I connected the printer to the USB port of the Synology DS216j, and setup through windows was amazingly simple. But when I use printershare to search the network for the printer, nothing shows up. The only thing that is a ray of hope still now, is a workgroup domain called 'WORKGROUP' that shows up in the search through printershare. Within that, the name of the 'Synology' device shows up, but when I try to open that, a username/password combo is asked. I try the accounts that I have on my NAS, but nothing helps. I believe there should be an account in the workgroup which should be provided here to gain access, but I have no idea how to do that.

Please help.

I've tried to provide as much information as clearly as possible, but if there is still something unclear, I'd be happy to resolve it if you ask.
