What do you think of this build?

Well it's one of the most barebones Z270 mobo's you can buy, but there is nothing inherently wrong with it that I can find.

I personally stay away from MSI motherboards, I have had bad experiences and from various VRM analysis's I read they don't seem to be really concerned with quality VRM's even on their high end mobo's.

I wouldn't buy that board personally, but I dont see a good reason to tell you not to. If you can get a better mobo without downgrading anything else then go for it.

It looks okay, I have a few suggestions. First you want to buy your memory in a kit not as separate sticks, it's cheaper and assures compatibility. I got you much faster RAM for cheaper below. Also while 450watts is likely enough, you are pushing it with a 1080. I added a decent 520watt psu. Other than that it looks okay, I would personally certainly be using an SSD for at least the OS if I was building a brand new rig in 2017 but I will leave that up to you.

I have heard allot of good things about the strix boards. I typically try to stay away from gigabyte though. Their UEFI is just far too constrained for my personal taste, and from experience, their bios design and hardware quality is a mixed bag. I personally have an msi for my AM3+ cpu and have absolutely no issues with it. But that is just me. Personally, if you can stretch out your budges a little more, I would go for a Seagate Firecuda drive as for they combine ssd technology with HDD capacities, therefore they are just simply faster drives with all of the storage of a hard drive. It would be worth it to me, but you decide for yourself.
