I am thinking of making a custom gaming/litecoin mining rig. I want an Nvidia card for gaming, but a Radeon card for mining. I will be using the i7 8700k (when it comes) in this build. Combine that with a full ATX case, MSI motherboard, 32 GB RAM, 500 GB SSD, 2 TB HDD, and a Corsair H115i AiO Liquid Cooler. Is there anyway I can put both GPUs in the PC and enable / disable the cards as per my choice? Or is it easy to assemble and disassemble my pc every few days to swap the graphics cards? If anyone of these will work out, i will get a GTX 1080 and your recommended Radeon GPU( which is enough for mining and not gaming).
Or else I will make a really cheap mining pc with a Pentium G4560, 4 GB DDR4 RAM, 1 TB HDD and some Motherboard and cooler. I'll get one monitor and use both PCs with this. Please give your suggestions as to what plan to use and which cheap Radeon GPU for mining to get. I am using a 4K 60 Hz panel ( because I want to).

If your mobo has more than 1 pcie 3.0 then you can use the two cards at same time .one for mining and disable one card in miner. But I'm not sure how to select that particular gpu to run the game .You can also mine when u b aren't playing.will u play games more than 4hrs a day ?

I might or might not game any particular day. However, I'll leave my system mining overnight.
If I game, it might be well around 4 hours a day, but not more than 6 hours. I can assure that.

So you can mine 20hrs a day even u play 4hrs gaming .I guess the single card is enough for that .you dont lose much money there in mining tho and avoiding all the difficulties in buying two seperate systems or running two GPUs together

However the GTX 1080 has G5X memory
So it won't perform that good in mining
I can go with a GTX 1080 and some other Radeon GPU
I would like to know this- are graphics cards connected by PCIe cords so if I disconnected them does the card become unusable unless I reconnect the wire? Or does GPUs connect in different ways?

Hey Reyazjunior - did you manage to get this rig up and running?

I've built a similar setup with 2x 107tis and 2x RX580 (intended for use with CAD and mining) and I'm having nothing but issues... Managed to get all 4 cards recognised and drivers installed which was a pita itself but now when mining Windows 10 constantly hangs... My CPU (i7-7700k) goes to 100%.... the system is so unstable its not funny and I haven't even overclocked/undervolted any of the cards yet.

Wondering how you went with your build? Any advice on what may be the issue very much appreciated. Cheers
