Hey guys, just quickly I would like to pretty much know if I can run GTX 1060 or any card in similar performance towards to the 1060.

Pc Specs -

CPU - I7 2600k
Current GPU - Gt 530 1gb
Mobo - Pegatron 2ab5 (bios version 7.12) Legacy only or a msi fm2a85xa-g65 (didn't check bios for this)
Ram - 32gb up to 48 not really neded

I needed to ask this since I seriously want to play pubg pretty much.

Thank you.

Well the 2600k is enough to properly utilize a 1060 in most games. My only worry is that pegatron motherboard, I have no idea if it's BIOS will support a pascel card like a 1060 or even how to find out. I dont believe pegatron even exists anymore. That MSI board is an FM2 socket AMD board, you cant use that with a 2600k.

Also make sure your power supply is enough for a 1060.

Sorry sir forgot to mention that , PSU is a 400W currently installed into my pc but I believe I may have a 600/650 somewhere in my garage may need to double check. Even so would 400W be sufficed?

Also would like to ask which motherboard did you to intend to say will run it?

As for the MSI MOBO, I have a similar capability of the I7 2600k, just cannot remember the cpu name will check in a little bit.

There is no CPU on the FM2 platform with that is comparable at least in single core performance to the 2600k.

The Pegatron mobo should work with a 1060 as it has a pcie x16 slot, however I have heard pascel and even maxwell cards are not supported by the BIOS of some of those older LGA 1155 boards. I would be especially worried about some LGA 1155 mobo made by a company that does not even exist anymore.

400watts should be enough assuming it is actually making 400watts. What is the make and model of the psu? Should be printed on it's label.

I don't know. If you are planning to buy the 1060 anyway go for it and try out that motherboard, it might work. If it does not you will need a new board.

I mean, I had heard from a mate of mine that a 1060 card was on sale (not 2nd hand) and was planning to go for it, but as to this situation the mobo had come into play and was skeptical that it would work as it's only legacy mode bios.

if it only supports legacy BIOS, then i'm afraid u might gonna need a new mobo too
the mobo with brands that still exist till today will have support to those new gen (heck, mine's from Jetway and they still had BIOS that supports my 1050ti)
also, don't forget to get a Z version so you can overclock your CPU when necessary
what's the 1060's price on this so called "sale"? if it's still over 300$ i suggest u just go with the 1070/1080 instead

for the power supply, it's not only about the wattage, u will want a good quality one too, even with that 600w if it's low quality it might bust out your whole rig (there's always a chance of that)
so getting a good one is recommended (preferably from tier 1 / 2 for overclocker - gamer)

Sale price is - $310

( I live in australia so GTX 1070 Is roughly $600+ and 1080 are super expensive here.)

3 GB or 6 GB
if that's for the 3 GB, it's pretty normal really these days since the cryptomining cause everything to goes up (even if only a bit)
however, if it's 6 GB
whelp! go get 'em boi, that's a deal u got there

Yeah not to sure if it will be a 3gb/6gb since I will be heading over to the store as of tomorrow hoping it will be 6gb but most likely not haha, will end up just buying it and seeing if it will work with my mobo if it wont startup with base bios/will do an update and pretty much wont work aswell will just simply get a new mobo.

Thank you all for the quick info was really really helpful.

sure, best of luck for u mate :D

Sorry for a very late reply for a question, umm when you said it could possibly work which 1060 brand would you recommend?

ehm brand won't have any effect imo
since the chip (and that means, the BIOS too) came from Nvidia themself, so that should means that AIB Patners only tampers around with the PCB, design, and cooling solution :)
so i don't think it really matters which brand u would want to use :)
