Im getting 500/30 internet and was wondering whether cat5e which I currently posses will be enough?

Connection will be star, 1PC - one cable. According to ISP it is fiber net but I have hard time believing it because of the coaxial cable that was drawn out to my house.

Anyway should I get cat6/7 or keep cat5e? maximum length of the cable is 30m.

Solution
So 500/30 is 500Mbits down and 30Mbits up. Cat5e supports 1000Mbits transmission provided all your components support gigabit speeds.

I would recommend upgrading to Cat6/Cat7 only if your network environment contains lots of interference from things like power lines, other cables, etc. Cat6/7 is better suited to operating in such an environment.

If it is only a home network then Cat5e should still serve you well for a few more years.

cat 5e will do GBe with is fine. If you wanted more you'll have to go beyond GBe, to 2.5/5/10GBe, which is pricey, and you'll need new network sockets etc.

However if you are running a cable then run 6a, as this can do 10GBe, once it become common place and you won't have to re-run the cable.
