I just slapped this graphics card in my Cybertron since the one it came with was garbage, but I was wondering now if the processor was hindering its performance. On War Thunder I'm getting 60 fps max on medium settings which isn't too bad but it seems like the GPU can do much more. The processor is a AMD A4-7300 APU 3.8ghz with Radeon HD Graphics which seems like a cheap-o one. I ran the MSI Afterburner and its showing the CPU usage is around 60-70% and GPU usage around 40%. I'm assuming I need a new CPU but just wanted to see what you guys thought! Thank you.

Yes, your processor will be hindering performance. When it was released, the A4-7300 was an entry level APU, it was never intended for use in a gaming computer. If war thunder is the most demanding game you play, then the processor may be ok. You could turn the graphic settings all the way up and not see a drop in the frame rate, as it's the APU that's limiting frames, not the graphics card.

haha, that's the exact same model i bought. don't attempt to oc your apu, it doesn't work. well it didn't work for me despite all my attempts. well that is if your apu is locked, I bought a A10-7680K quad-core and replaced the A3-7300 dual-core. if your apu is unlocked you can go unlock that extra core that isn't being used. but with that dual core you wont get anywhere, it alone has a hard time running YouTube at 240p-480p, and it cant sustain a multitude of open web browsers. instead of making the mistake it made(buying a A10-7680k) i suggest you buy a new motherboard that supports a core I7-7700K, buy a core I7-7700K and use that.

Your APU is holding you back. It's a dual core for one thing, it's an APU which is another thing. The problem is it's not really worth it to upgrade to a faster APU, because it might be faster but it's still an APU. At this point a new CPU means a new motherboard too, and new system ram(DDR4). That's a lot of money to spend, not counting the videocard you recently bought.

Alternatively, you could buy a used computer with a Sandy Bridge quad core or similar, and put your videocard in that. You'd be far better off than you are now and depending where you are, they can be had cheap.

So no matter what CPU I get, the motherboard will have to be switched out? That's a bummer...
