Hi,

I have a Toshiba Satellite C55-A. Which I gt the following message "No bootable device -- Please restart system"

reading other forums they suggested me to change the BIOS - Advanced - System Configuration - Boot Mode to CMS Boot. However with this change i get the following:

"Intel UNDI, PXE-2.0 (build 083)
Copyright (c) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation
For Atheron PCIE Ethernet Controller c2.1.1.1(12/23/11)

Check cable connection!
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXR ROM
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key"

I have tested the HDD and is fully functional, also I tried another functional HDD and still the same problem.

I need some help maybe I am missing something on the BIOS or anything

Thanks,

Sounds like you might have MBR issues. Maybe your master boot record got corrupted and now the system can't find the boot record.

Those types of issues are pretty difficult to resolve.

I'd say get a flash drive, set it up on another machine as a recovery disk (windows PE), then run some disk and boot diagnostics like diskpart.

Get ready for a steep learning curve :)

@Timstertimster and @gaius_iulius Thanks for your replies, after several hours invested in my laptop, I have fixed it using both advises you gave me.

Now I am finishing installing the regular software I use on the laptop. and of course I will create a recovery disk to avoid this happens again.

Thank you !
