I just made a new Ubuntu system and I had data around 400 gb in my hard drive and now I used clonezilla for cloning the entire hard drive to another one while doing this it started cloning the os to the other disk but after that it stopped and ended the procedure and came all the way to end and showed "press enter to continue" and after that it showed the options like power off and restart and I clicked on power off and when I disconnected the hard drive after the system was power off and than I started the pc with the source file it showed error missing operating system and all the files were deleted in the source drive I don't want the data back but I want to know what should i do so that in future if I use clonezilla it does not happen again and this is not the first time I have used clonezilla I have been using it for about 2 years now and did the same process like a hundred times.... just to clear I had data in destination drive as well so its not that I may have chosen the wrong hard drive.

help would be appreciated.

Solution
I suppose you've swapped "source" and "destination" drives, so you essentially have cloned new drive over old one.

Boot LiveCD, and see what partitions you have on both drives.
