I recently discovered G-sync is actually quite a special feature and my monitor does not have it. However I previously have looked up why my fps stay right at 60 in all games, varying to 61 or 59 but 97% of the time are right at 60fps. Someone told me it's because of g-sync.
However doesn't the monitor need g-sync in order for it to work on a game?? Also without it on in Dishonored 2 I see a lot of screen tearing. With it on, hardly any. Other games I really don't notice if it is happening.
So whats the deal? Is it G-sync holding the fps at 60 or what is happening?

Perhaps a year of gaming on intel hd graphics has made me numb to subtle errors on the new comps performance...
