i5 2300 TO i5 3470 is it worth an upgrade?

Is it worth an upgrade if i don't want to upgrade my motherboard. Or what would be the best upgrade if i don't want to upgrade my motherboard? BTW right now i have i5 2300, will it bottleneck my gtx 1060 3gb?

Both the i5 2300 and i5 3470 will bottleneck that GTX 1060. The i5 3470 will indeed be an upgrade, but still will bottleneck it. What motherboard do you have? If the i5 3470 is your best upgrade, then it might just be best to get a new motherboard.
