Hey all. Just recently finished building a new PC:

BeQuiet! Dark Base Pro 900
Intel Core i7-7700k
Gigabyte GA-Z270X-Gaming K7
Deepcool Captain 240EX cooler
32GB G.Skill Trident Z DDR4 3200
EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition
500GB Samsung 960 Evo M.2
BeQuiet! Dark Power Pro 750w PSU

I'm still very hesitant at the core temp spikes and idle temps of the 7700k, but from what I'm hearing my temps are normal (34C idle on cold boot, non-OC, 44C while gaming). Now, onto the GPU. My cold boot idle temp was around the same as the CPU at 33C. I've been keeping my home around 77-78F, so an ambient temp around 25C. I installed and ran World of Warcraft (set to 7/10 graphics settings) and the GPU maxed out around 82-83C while flying around to test FPS and temps. My 770 in a much warmer case maxes out around 80C. I installed and ran Player's Unknown Battlegrounds with graphics set to Ultra. The GPU sat around the same 82C mark. This just seems way too warm. Are these normal temps or should I RMA the card?

I haven’t made a custom fan curve profile in a while. Can’t get use to Precision X so I use MSI Afterburner. Any recommendations for a slightly more aggressive fan curve? I built this machine with the goal of being super quiet as my other desktop screams like a jet engine.

i've not tricked around too much with the fan curve on my GTX1060, it never gets hotter than 64 on full gaming load. But if i were using it, I'd use MSI afterburner. It's in the settings. Can't remember as I'm at work and away from my desktop. The idea being to set it so that at maybe 45c the fan goes up to, maybe 50%, 55c 75% etc. You select the different temps and fan speeds via a graph (i think), then just save it to a profile. You can play around with it to keep the noise level at a min. Obviouly with the fans spinning faster there is increased noise output. So it's a balancing act.

At 80C or so, the fan/rpm isn't very high. I can definitely tweak the profile a bit but I wanted this build to be silent so I'm not sure how much tweaking I can actually do. What's the safest way to stress test your graphics card without damaging it? Best software, etc?

something like superposition, will do it fine. Use MSI afterburner to monitor the variables you want to watch e.g GPU Temp, GPU Core, GPU Mem etc

The fan curve set by manufacturers is a blend of low noise/good fan performance. It's very hard to keep the noise of the fans down once the curve becomes more aggressive. You could look into getting sound proofing panels for your case, that might help the nose levels.

The bequiet! cases are designed to "be quiet," ie. they have sound dampening materials, amazing fans, etc. I was able to set up an aggressive fan curve that brought my temps down to 60-65C while gaming, at the cost of the fan roaring. I guess it's the price I paid for buying a FE for it's looks rather than a non-FE for performance. I would install one of the hybrid kits but 1. I don't really have anywhere to mount it and 2. It would make my clean case more cluttered.

ah, happy days. Result so! :)

glad it worked out.
